Last post from the MTC

The traditional "flying" picture

Run over by missionaries

Catching snowflakes on his tongue

Don't interupt my studies!

We got Aaron's last letter from the MTC yesterday. In it he said that he had gained 10 pounds by eating unlimited meals for three weeks. He expects that to come to an immediate halt when he arrives in the mission field. He should have arrived on Wednesday. I doubt he will be able to write except on P-day. I don't know when that is at this point, but will let you all know when he tells us. Aaron's sister, Karen, just told me that the blog was set us to not allow comments, so I tried to fix that. You can try again to give a comment and we will see if what I did worked. Aaron's last letter included the traditional silly MTC pictures. I will upload them for you to see. More serious ones will come later. He does say that he is happy; that's very good to know. Keep letters coming to him; that (along with the work) will help keep him happy.

Hey, everyone!

I want to start off by thanking everyone who has written me. It turns out, getting mail is a lot of fun, and almost something of a contest out here. I'm doing great here at the MTC. I'm learning, growing, and having lots of fun. I'm working on becoming the 4-square champion during gym. Ok, I couldn't care less, but it's a lot of fun to play!

I'm more than half-way through the MTC. It seems like it's been a couple of days and a full month at the same time.

I'm super-busy with the work, but if you want to find out anything, I'll promise to write you back! Write and let me know how you're doing, everyone.

Note from Mom:

Aaron says that he does leave for Fresno on the 25th. He got his itinerary (sp?); he says it is only a 45 min. flight. So, do these pictures look familiar? If Aaron wasn't in them, they could have been from any one of your missions. I wish he had written names and dates on the back of the photos he sent home. You forget names.

1st post (written on 2-12-09)

Hey, all,

It's Elder Barnard (Aaron). I've been at the Missionary Training Center in Provo for a week now. To those who have written me so far, keep up the good work! To those who haven't, I can only assume yours was lost in the mail or is currently in the mail right now. Yeah, that seems the only logical excuse.... Now, I want this plainly understood, this blog is no substitute for letters, either to or from me. (half-joking) :p

Anyway, I'm here at the MTC and doing great. I miss the comforts of home, but strangely enough I'm loving having my days scheduled out in our little planner. Oh, no one is allowed to let me know what happens in any movie or TV show while I'm gone. So anyway, there'll be more later, and I wish you all luck with whatever.

[A note from Mom, who is passing on these posts from Aaron's letters:]

He really is doing great. As a matter of fact, "great" is one of the words he has used to describe the MTC: great and awesome. He's enjoying the scripture study, the structure, his district, and the MTC choir in which he is singing. At this point he only has a little over a week left before leaving for Fresno. Family, he will start sending out e-mails after that, but according to his last letter, he really appreciates real letters. So keep those coming. Here is the address you need to use in Fresno:

Elder Aaron Glenn Barnard

1814 N Echo Av.

Fresno, CA 93704-6046
